Stanley, Friedrich (Fred) W. Amberg age 77 of 3164 Whitney Road died peacefully at home on Thursday March 20, with his family by his side.

Friends may call on Monday from 4-7PM at the Cheney Funeral Home 70 Main Street Phelps.

It is suggested that memorial donations be made to the Sands Cancer Center 350 Parrish Street Canandaigua NY 14424 or the Seneca Castle Fire Co. 2024 County Rd. 4 Seneca Castle, NY 14547.

Mr. Amberg was born on November 22, 1930 in Waldau Germany the son of the late Friedrich and Agnes Else Wiedenbeck Amberg. He moved to America from Germany in 1952. Mr. Amberg went to work for Sterns Nursery in Geneva, before partnering with his brother Herman forming Amberg Bros. Nursery. Shortly after their partnership Herman went on to specialize in Grapes and Fred went on to specialize in Apple Trees.

Mr. Amberg was a past president of the Ontario County Farm Bureau, and a member of the board of directors for the NYS Farm Bureau. He also was a member of the board of directors for Farm Family Ins. Co.

He was Chairman of the Town of Seneca Republican Committee and a past Treasurer for the Ontario County Republican Committee.

Mr. Amberg was a past Fire Chief for the Seneca Castle Fire Co. He was also a veteran of the United States Army.

Mr. Amberg owned and operated Amberg's Nursery, Inc.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Sigrid.

Daughter Ingrid Amberg (Robert Pineau) of Ann Arbor Michigan.

Son Norbert (Karen) Amberg of Stanley

He was the loving "Opa" of Colin and Mara Pineau and Ryan and Katrina Amberg.

Brother Herman (Ute) Amberg of Clifton Springs

Several nieces and nephews.
