Phelps,
M. Kellogg “Kelly” Baldwin age 92 of 36 Main
Street, passed away on Tuesday March 4, 2008 at the
Wayne County Rehabilitation and Nursing Home.
Friends may call on Saturday March 8, from 5-7PM at
the Cheney Funeral Home 70 Main Street Phelps. Funeral
services will follow at 7 P.M. with the Rev. Paul
Malles pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Penn Yan
officiating. Military Honors will be bestowed
following the funeral services. Burial will be in St.
Mary’s Cemetery in Cortland.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in
Kelly’s memory to the Wayne County Nursing (WCNH)
1529 Nye Road, Lyons, NY 14489.
Kelly was born on June 22, 1915 in Cortland, the
son of the late Myron Kellogg and Lillian Hammond
Baldwin.
He attended Cornell University and was a member of
the class of 1939.
He was an Army veteran of World War II serving from
1942- 1945.
He was a member of the Seeley B. Parish American
Legion Post #457 in Phelps and A life member of the
Veterans of Foreign Wars , Geneva Post.
Kelly owned and operated the Hall Fertilizer Corp.
in Hall, NY from 1962 until his retirement in 1996.
Throughout his life Kelly also enjoyed playing
golf.
He is survived by his wife Margot Martens Baldwin
of Phelps
2 daughters Ann Baldwin Ott of New Paltz and Jean
Baldwin Rains of Shaker Heights Ohio. 5 Grandchildren
Katherine A. Ott, David F. Ott, Stephen K. Ott, Robert
Rains and Kathleen Rains. Four step-children,
13 step-grandchildren and 3 step-great
grandchildren.
Kelly was predeceased by his first wife Helen O’Connor
Baldwin his sister Gladys Baldwin Albro and brother
Charles Orley Baldwin.
