Marie Agnes Dempsey Rooney age 87 of 144 Main Street
Phelps, died on Sunday March 2, 2008 at the Clifton
Springs Hospital & Clinic.
An informal celebration of Marie’s life will be
held on Friday March 7, 2008 at 6PM at the Cheney
Funeral Home 70 Main Street Phelps, where family and
friends are invited to share memories and special
moments of Marie’s life.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be
made to Vienna Gardens Activities Department, 144 Main
Street Phelps, NY 14532, where she enjoyed many years
of Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy.
Marie was born on May 14, 1920 in Philadelphia, PA
the daughter of Elmer and Laura Reese Dempsey. She
loved her sports and could rattle off statistics of
every college, basketball, football and baseball team.
She was looking forward to march madness. She was
dearly loved by her family and will be sadly missed.
She is survived by her children Bruce (Phyllis)
Rooney of Stone Mountain, Ga, Patricia (Mike) Mullally
of Clifton Springs, Kevin (Karen) Rooney of Middletown
Springs Vt, and Shawn (Paula) Rooney of Stanley, NY
Grandchildren Timothy (Melanie) Mullally, Erin (Joe
Nothnagle) Mullally, Ashley Rooney, Stephen and
Melanie Rooney.
Great Grandsons Zachary and Zane Mullally
Several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Howard “Mickey”
Rooney of Waterloo, NY.
