Phelps, Newark Norma L. Roe age 77 of Bell Road, died after a long illness on Monday March 17, 2008 at the Clifton Springs Hospital.

Friends may call on Saturday March 22, from 12-2PM at the Cheney Funeral Home 70 Main Street Phelps. Private burial will be in Whitney Cemetery.

It is suggested that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made to the Clifton Springs Hospital 2 Coulter Road Clifton Springs, NY 14432 of the Phelps Community Library 8 Banta Street Phelps, NY 14532.

Norma was born on September 6, 1930 in Himrod, NY the daughter of the late Lester and Hazel Lynn Hatmaker. She retired after more than 20 years of service from Geneva General Hospital. At the time of her retirement Norma was the oldest active employee the hospital has ever had. Norma was a charter member of the West Lake Road Fire Assoc. Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by 3 daughters Catherine (Barry Smith) Roe of Newark

Laurie Roe of Ithaca

Penny (Marty) VanKirk of Geneva.

“Bumma” as she was known to her 2 grandchildren, Kevin and Kelsey Vankirk will surely be missed.

She is also survived by her brother George and Barbara Hatmaker. Of North Carolina.

Several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her Sister June Casteluzzo.
