Geneva/Phelps Mr. Robert W. Gittens Sr. age 79 of 1981 Hayes Road died on Sunday March 16, 2008 at the Clifton Springs Nursing Home.

Friends may call on Wednesday March 19, from 5-6PM at the Cheney Funeral Home 70 Main Street Phelps. Funeral services will follow at 6PM with the Rev. Lynn Spence officiating. Private burial will be held at Oaklawn Cemetery in Oaks Corners.

It is suggested that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made to the Clifton Springs Nursing Home or Finger Lakes Community Cancer Center 2 Coulter Road Clifton Springs, NY 14432.

Mr. Gittens was born on February 20, 1929 in Phelps, NY the son of the late Robert Lewis and Clara Swick Gittens.

He drove cement truck for Ontario Sand and gravel for 24 years and then retired as welder from Goulds Pumps in 1989. He enjoyed fishing and playing the guitar. Mr. Gittens also enjoyed camping, NASCAR and especially the New York Giants.

He is survived by his wife of 61years Mary Hutchings Gittens of Geneva
