Shirley Jane Crosby

 

Shirley Jane Crosby went to heaven on Easter Sunday, March 24th 2008.

Born in 1936 in Stroudsburg, PA to Jasper and Gladys Adams, she was

the oldest of 5 children.

 

Friends may call on Tuesday (March 25), from 4-7PM at the Cheney Funeral Home 70 Main Street, Phelps. A celebration of Shirley’s life will be on Wednesday at 10AM at Park Presbyterian Church in Newark.  She will be laid to rest next to her husband Chet in Resthaven Cemetery in Phelps.  

 

She was a dedicated teacher in the Phelps-Clifton Springs school district for 30 years. She was a devoted member of Delta Kappa Gamma Teachers Sorority.

She was a past president of the Omega Chapter and served as State Parliamentarian.  She also belonged to the Finger Lakes Chorale, the Phelps Clifton Springs Community Theater, the Phelps Croquet Club and the Phelps-Clifton Springs Retired Teachers Association. She was a past president of the Phelps Rotary Club and a current member of the Newark Rotary Club. She was an advocate for organ donations and did many presentations throughout the area. She was voted the Phelps/Clifton Springs Business and Professional Women’s Club Woman of the Year in 1999.  She was active in the United Church of Phelps for many years and was a current member of Park Presbyterian Church.

 

The path to heaven was paved for her by her soul mate, Chet Crosby, her parents Gladys and Jasper and her sisters, Joan Tuthill, Jean Adams and Elvene Kresge. She will be forever remembered by her children, Scott Milsom, Tracy and John Clingerman, her grandchildren, Sean Milsom and Chloe Pieters. Her step granchildren, Karli and Zackery Clingerman. Her step-daughters Rachel Riccione, Susan, Julie and Vivian Crosby. Her uncle John Adams. Her brother Bill ( Ruth) Adams.  Several nieces and nephews.   Her close circle of friends who held her in constant light, her loving sisters in Delta Kappa Gamma,  her devoted  caregivers at the Geneva Dialysis Center and the Clifton Springs Hospital and Clinic.
