John “Jack” Hayes age 65 passed away peacefully on
Thursday October 4, 2007 at his home with family and
friends.
Friends may call on Saturday October 6, from 2-4
and 7-9 PM at the Cheney Funeral Home 70 Main Street
Phelps. Funeral services will be held on Sunday
October 7, at 2PM at the Seneca Castle United
Methodist Church with Rev. Babs Steinert officiating.
Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery in Oaks Corners.
Jack was born on June 13, 1942 in Clifton Springs,
New York the son of the late John and Laura Rauscher
Hayes.
He was a member of the Seneca Castle United
Methodist Church and was in charge of the
co-ordination of ushers.
Jack was a professional school bus driver for the
Phelps-Clifton Springs School District and retired in
2004 after 381/2 years of service. Jack ran the same
bus route and was on his 3rd generation of
children. He was past president and vice president of
the non-instructional union. He worked very closely
with the school board and was instrumental in peaceful
in settling negotiations with positive outcomes. He
currently held a position on the advisory board.
Jack owned and operated Jacks welding and repair
shop and also worked the family farm for most of his
life. He also enjoyed model trains, fishing and
camping and spending time with friends.
It is suggested that memorial donations be made to
the Seneca Castle United Methodist Church Memorial
Fund P.O. Box 151 Seneca Castle New York.
Jack is survived by his loving wife of 11 years,

He was predeceased by 2 sisters Beverly and
RoseMary
Jack will be missed by his family and many friends
in the community.
